Seminar Materials

Preparations

• Provide the TA with an abstract of your talk and a brief biography two weeks before the talk so that we can update the course website and generate publicity for your talk.
• Bring your own computer and any required adaptors to connect to VGA as well as a copy of your presentation on a Flash Drive.
• Inform us of any special computing AV requests.
• Create a web backup of presentation in email, DropBox etc in case we have hardware issues.

Transportation

Getting to Stanford University

Stanford is served by both San Francisco (SFO) and San Jose International (SJC) airports. Public transportation via CalTrain and BART is available from either airport.

Palo Alto is a stop along the Caltrain. The train station stops off on the west end of University Ave, which is one end of downtown Palo Alto. The train station also has free shuttles (The Marguerite), which go to the Stanford University campus. The easiest way to get to campus is by Super-shuttle or rental car.

Getting Around Stanford Campus

The Stanford Marguerite Shuttle is a good way to get around campus. It will also take you from the Stanford Guest House or downtown Palo Alto to the Main Quad, where the presentation will take place.

Metered parking is available close to the presentation site. We can also provide parking passes upon arrival. The Stanford parking map is here.

Accommodation

If you plan to stay overnight then a good option is the Stanford Guest House located on the grounds of the linear accelerator center (Google Map).

In certain cases we may be able to arrange for accommodations at the more conveniently located Stanford Faculty Club Guest House. However, we will need advance notification for this option due to the very limited availability.
